Circle of Friends: Supporting Young People Together

The Circle of Friends programme helps young people aged 10–14 who may be at risk of disengagement or vulnerability. Delivered by The Children’s Society as part of Birmingham’s My Tomorrow campaign, it works with schools and community hubs to support small friendship groups rather than individuals.

Over eight weeks, youth workers run sessions that build trust, improve communication and teach coping strategies for issues like anxiety, bullying or school absence. This early intervention strengthens relationships and reduces risks linked to exploitation or crime.

Funded by Birmingham City Council and the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership, Circle of Friends gives young people the tools to make positive choices and thrive.
